The Gauteng orienteering season begins on Sunday, 24 January 2010, with a much-loved short-course event at the Jo’burg Zoo. As the first of the eight-event series, this Zoo event – held at a location that is familiar to many – is the perfect place for beginners (adults and children) to try this fun map-and-compass navigation sport.
There’s a new kid on the block in the magazine realm. Now on to its third edition, ‘Do It Now’ is edited by paddler, Rhys Foster.The magazine is divided into sections that deal mostly with off-road sports, focusing on adventure, lifestyle and sport.
Team Gijima is presenting a 45km adventure race in February in the Cullinan area. The event invites teams of two and three to take on their course, which includes running, biking, a short swim (100m), an abseil and a surprise discipline. The entry fee is R150.00pp and entries can be done online.

The team finished strongly at about 9h15 yesterday. The last section was along the beach and everyone was sleep walking. They finished in 22nd place. There was clearly some tough competition. The final results are now on the website.
