Rankings added to AR World Series

An AR World Ranking of teams will be introduced to the Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS) this December 2012.  The AR World Rankings will provide a ranking order of the world’s best adventure racing teams based on their previous two years of results.

A six-month consultation process with athletes, event organisers and sponsors has just concluded. The AR World Rankings will be based on a points system and will rank established adventure racing teams on their race results at AR World Series races.

The top 10 finishing teams at each Qualifier race are awarded AR World Ranking points based on their finishing position. The top 20 finishing teams at the annual AR World Championship are awarded points, which are more heavily weighted to reflect the increased competition level at the annual championship race.

AR World Rankings are calculated and released on a ongoing cycle of approximately four months. A ranked team maintains their AR World Ranking for the duration of the ranking cycle. At the end of a cycle, rankings are re-calculated using the current cycles results, and the new AR World Rankings are released.

The AR World Championship will continue to crown the annual world champions of adventure racing. The AR World Rankings are an ongoing comparison of a teams overall consistency and performance.
