The City of Burnie, Tasmania, will provide the ideal host and launching point to the West coast wilderness for national and international teams in the 2011 Adventure Racing (AR) World Championship. Burnie is Tasmania’s westerly most city and is the historic service centre and gateway to the wilderness of the West coast.
After battling with the afternoon traffic out of Johannesburg we finally arrived in Lady Grey at 9pm on Friday evening, just in time to miss the briefing. So we hung around for Adrian to give a short an fast briefing seeing it would be our first Wartrail.
Today Cyanosis officially announced that they will challenge for honours at Expedition Africa, South Africa’s premier expedition adventure race for 2011. The race, which takes place in the Western Cape, will see teams cover approximately 500km non-stop.
This past weekend, Team Cyanosis entered a male pair team into the Kinetic Double Moon Adventure Race. Racing as Team First Ascent Cyanosis, the team blitzed the course around the hillier parts of the Free State, including the towns of Bethlehem, Fouriesburg and Clarens.
Started strong, doing some good jogging. We were with Assitport male pair the whole way. Had a bit of trouble with CP2 – the windmill – where we lost a bit of time. Bumped into Uncharted at a trig beacon, they were going strong…
Now this is exciting. This portrait image, by Chris Radcliffe, is on the front cover of the April issue of Triathlete magazine. They’ve done an ‘Adventure’ issue.
