Cyanosis to race Expedition Africa

Today Cyanosis officially announced that they will challenge for honours at Expedition Africa, South Africa’s premier expedition adventure race for 2011. The race, which takes place in the Western Cape, will see teams cover approximately 500km non-stop. The route will be made up of approximately 329km mountain biking, 133km trekking and 67km of Kayaking.

Cyanosis’ team, consisting of the old dogs Clinton Mackintosh & Nicholas Mulder, will be joined by the very talented Jane Swarbreck and Nathan Thompson. Jane, who has competed locally and internationally in adventure races, is a very successful Ironman competitor. She is looking forward to the opportunity to race with one of South Africa’s best adventure racing teams. “I’m thrilled at the chance to race with Cyanosis. The team is always competitive,” she says.

The other relatively young recruit is Nathan Thompson. Nathan has a very strong cross-country and road-running background. “Nathan has always been competitive. When we race against a team that he is in we are always pushed hard. He just seems to be able to run and ride fast all the time with no let up. I am looking forward to racing with both Nathan and Jane. I have been warned to invest in wheels for my Salomon shoes as these two run like the wind,” laughs Clinton.

With just under eight weeks before the team lines up for Expedition Africa, the Cyanosis athletes are focused on training. It is expected to be a thrilling race…
