Cyanosis and Merrell Adventure Addicts finished racing on Friday, prize giving was Friday night and they began the journey home on Saturday. Most, if not all, are now home as I write this.
News from Nicholas Mulder, via sms on Saturday morning, was as follows:
Finished 16h00 yesterday. Prize giving went on until 01h30 this morning and they only told us last night that our bus will leave at 05h30 instead of 10h00!
I asked about the results…
Supposedly 15th, which is disappointing. We’d just passed Team Karlstad when we cut off the loop and they went on to place 9th. Merrell are ranked unofficial at the moment. They’re understandably upset. This is probably because they cycled the last leg instead of river paddle. But, they [the race organisation] had run out of boats and Merrell were told to cycle!
So, we wait for the teams’ race reports for the full story. Welcome home teams. I know you both wanted top results but even so, we’re all proud of you.
