Maurer wins Red Bull X-Alps
Christian Maurer (SUI1) has won the Red Bull X-Alps 2011, landing in Monaco this afternoon. He completed the 864 km course in just under 11 days, 4 hours and 22 minutes.

?James Braid, Pierre Carter’s support, has sent through a report describing their last few days of racing at Red Bull X-Alps.
This morning, Day 10, Pierre Carter was eliminated from the Red Bull X-Alps event. After the first three days of racing, the event eliminates back-enders at regular intervals. At 07h00 this morning, Pierre’s phone rang; the anticipated call from the organisers informing him of elimination.
Pierre Carter’s support, James Braid, has sent through another update. Today, Sunday 24 July is Day 8.
A report just received from James Braid, support for Pierre Carter (RSA) at Red Bull X-Alps. The race started around noon on Sunday, 17 July 2011. Today, Thursday, is Day 5. Thus far Pierre has covered 478km. His Day 4 was massive with a whopping 96km on foot!
We’re now into Day 3 at Red Bull X-Alps and Pierre Carter remains in Top 10 (sitting in 6th most of today). News just in from James Braid, his support crew.
The Western Cape plays host to many top outdoor sporting events every year; with the Pick ‘n Pay Cape Argus Cycletour, the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and the ABSA Cape Epic just three well known events amongst many.
