Bimbache: Last day – paddling
Yesterday, Cyanosis did indeed skip the small skating loop, missing out a few CPs. Merrell Adventure Addicts recovered from what looked like a really bad section on the big skating loop during Wednesday night.

Well, it’s Thursday morning and there is still a distance for race leaders Buff Thermocool (lead by the amazing Emma Roca) to go. They’re on the final paddle, a river section, heading towards Salamanca.
We’re into the fourth race day and our teams have been out there for 72 hours already. I found this comment on SleepMonsters from a post by Pyro. He met up with Cyanosis at the end of Monday night’s hike, which we finished Tuesday morning.
After 60 hours of racing, both Merrell Adventure Addicts and Cyanosis are well placed and racing steadily. Their position is uncertain as there is no online leaderboard.
Again, scouring the web for news. Cyanosis and Merrell are still close to each other – Merrell is ahead of Cyanosis. They’re still on the hike and look to have just under 10km to go to T11.
As is usually the case when there are no communicative seconds (Bimbache is an unsupported race), news is scarce. I don’t really know what is happening except that we (‘we’ referring to Team Cyanosis and Merrell Adventure Addicts) are currently heading towards 36hrs of racing and we’re on the third, of eight, mountain bike stages.
Team Cyanosis has got just hours left before the 8am Sunday start to the Adventure Racing World Champs in Avila, Spain. The team has finalised its preperations, transition boxes are packed, and paddles, roller blades, mountain bikes are all in perfect working order for this 720km race through the western part of the country.
