The ninth edition of the Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race will take place on the edge of the world’s third largest icefield in the stunning fjordland region of Chilean Patagonia – and race organisers Nomadas are aiming to break their record of 14 competing nations for the next event in February 2011.
The OTTER African Trail Run, presented by Hi-Tec, undoubtedly rates as the Holy Grail of off-road running. Yesterday saw the five-hour barrier on this race broken only for the second time in history, when winner John Collins rampaged home in a blistering 4hrs 56min. Collins’ reign as Otter King was, however, short-lived.
The established South African adventure racing team, Red Ants, will compete in their first overseas adventure race in February 2011. The team, formed eight years ago, has excelled in local events, with podium finishes at all major races. Their first international excursion will see the team racing at the Tierra Viva AR, a six-day non-stop expedition race in southern Argentina.
