Solo, trans-Atlantic ocean rower Peter van Kets now has less than 500nm to row to Antigua. Tough weather conditions and a competitive solo rival, Charlie Pitcher, meant that Pete lost out on winning the solo category and setting a solo record. He’s in contention for second.

Souff Africans at Atacama

Capetonian runner Ryan Sandes popularised this company’s 4 Desert Series here in SA when he won in Gobi and the Sahara (2008). News coming through this evening, at the end of Stage 1, sees Ryan in first place.

Diamond Dash novices, no longer novices

Substituted into this AR event seven days before it took place, I joined Lisa (Ms AR SA & definitely not a novice!) and my fellow novice racers Motlatsi and Nadia …. and seven hours and ten minutes after we had started in cool Cullinan conditions, we finished our first AR race in the hottest Highveld heat and finished 15th out of 120-odd teams!

Swazi Xtreme date change

The date for the 10th annual Swazi Xtreme have changed from end-April to 6-9 August 2010. “For reasons within our control, and before such reasons are outside our control, we wish to advise of the postponement of the Swazi Xtreme 2010,” says race director Darron Raw.
