Cyanosis attempt Grand Traverse

Nicholas Mulder and Ryno Griesel of the Cyanosis adventure racing team are in the final steps of preparation for taking on the 210km Drakensberg Grand Traverse. The pair will take on the challenge on the weekend of 22 to 24 January. Weather permitting, they will also be aiming to beat Andrew Porter’s record of 61 hours, 24 minutes.

Lottery entry for Namib Desert Challenge

As I am unable to attend the Namib Desert Challenge (21-25 February 2010) presented by Kinetic Events, my entry, which I received after winning ladies last year, is up for grabs. The usual entry fee is €995.00 (EUR) per competitor, which is around R10,750. My entry is going for a R1,500 admin fee.

Hotel to span Vaal River islands

The Vredefort Dome Action Group is fighting this development and they are collecting support for their campaign.

After a week on the water, Trans-Atlantic solo rower Peter van Kets is in second place and chasing down solo rival Charlie Pitcher. In this first week Peter has been smacked about by bad weather and large side-on swells, had a close-encounter with a ship and was visited, at night, by a big something that kept bumping into his boat.
