This catchy tune was my personal theme song this year at the Garmin Wartrail. Everytime I bumped into athletes, seconds, marshals, medics, locals etc. this tune would pop up and I found myself singing it out loud to the amusement of those in earshot.
In the final 50 meters of a sprint race, is it ok to overtake a team on a novelty obstacle course? This is a question that came out at a recent sprint race when two equally strong and competitive teams reached the inflatable obstacle course, the one slightly ahead of the other.
Once an adventurer has completed a two-and-a-half month long expedition, walking from Cape Town to Beit Bridge, what does he do? Soak in a spa, devour copious volumes of food and watch lots of television? No, none of the above. Instead, he climbs on to a bicycle to ride home.

Jacques ‘Garmin’ Booysen got more adventure than most during the mountain run stage of the 2010 Garmin Wartrail when he walked along the wrong ridgeline. 14 hours after the start, ‘Garmin’ walked off the mountain and into a festive party at a remote farmhouse.
We were by far the youngest team to line up at the start of the Ystervark en Lekker club race. This being our first “Dark Zone” race we did not know what to expect. We did however hope to at least finish. Although we were nervous before the start, we were actually really excited to be taking part in a senior level race, ‘old school’ style.
