ARers get proficient

A good number of AR-ers attended this weekend’s flat water proficiency test at Emmarentia Dam on Saturday afternoon. AR Club and Tshwane AR Club have been encouraging adventure racers to do their flat water proficiency test – ultimately you are responsible for your safety.

Cyanosis at AR Club next week

A SUPER SPECIAL AR Club evening next week Tuesday at Kinetic in Rivonia. Clinton Mackintosh (Team Cyanosis) will take us through their race in Spain – they returned home yesterday. I had a good chat with Nicholas last night and I can assure you that Clinton’s talk will give interesting insight as to what went down there.

Team Cyanosis have just returned from the Adventure Racing World Champs in Spain, still sorely sleep deprived and with very weary bodies after having had less post-race sleep than some nights during the race!

Cyanosis and Merrell Adventure Addicts finished racing on Friday, prize giving was Friday night and they began the journey home on Saturday. Most, if not all, are now home as I write this.

Yesterday, Cyanosis did indeed skip the small skating loop, missing out a few CPs. Merrell Adventure Addicts recovered from what looked like a really bad section on the big skating loop during Wednesday night.

Well, it’s Thursday morning and there is still a distance for race leaders Buff Thermocool (lead by the amazing Emma Roca) to go. They’re on the final paddle, a river section, heading towards Salamanca.

We’re into the fourth race day and our teams have been out there for 72 hours already. I found this comment on SleepMonsters from a post by Pyro. He met up with Cyanosis at the end of Monday night’s hike, which we finished Tuesday morning.
