Some events have race photographers. Either the photographic company or the race organiser will post them online. The organiser may make a CD of photos available for purchase. www.AR.co.za does not host photo galleries for events. Please contact the race organiser.
Adventure racing includes events that are 2-hours in duration to others that are 5-days long. The shorter the event, the less you need. A mountain bike, helmet and trail shoes are standard. Why don’t you check out the event information or phone the specific organiser of the event you’re interested in doing?
Before you ask “What time is the start?”, “What equipment do I need?”, “Where is it?” and other such race-related questions, please note – I am not the organiser of the race. If there is no link from the Event Calendar listing of the event and there is no information on the event’s website…
Guys, if the results are not up on the Reports & Results section of this site then I don’t have them. Be assured that I derive no pleasure from hording this kind of stuff and keeping it from you. As soon as I receive the results I post them online.
Copies of ‘Adventure Racing’ by Jacques Marais & Lisa de Speville are sometimes spotted at Exclusive Books. You can also order online through www.kalahari.net. “This is a thorough guide for all levels of athletes, especially those getting involved in adventure racing for the first time. Jacques and Lisa have left no stone unturned…”
No, it isn’t. I work for myself, in the field of Public Relations, Media and Communications. Ideally I’d like to focus predominantly on brands and athletes in adventure sports. www.AR.co.za started out as a hobby and continues to be my big baby. I do spend a lot of time running and maintaining the site.
www.AR.co.za began on 11 April 2001. I started the site because, as an adventure racer within the sport, I couldn’t find any information about events and the sport. I figured that the sport would never grow unless there was a central online presence.
