Cyanosis ready to run World Rogaining Champs

Team Cyanosis will take on the World Rogaining Champs this weekend when the pairing of Nicholas Mulder and Ryno Griesel take on the world’s best in New Zealand. The 24-hour non-stop race will take place in and around the town of Cheviot, about a 1-hour drive north of Christchurch on the South Island.

We were fired up and ready to go, the first hike leg was great we had decided to do all CP’s and all the OP’s it was easy going nice weather beautiful scenery, lots of game and birdlife. We scored a BarOne for getting wet at 4.15 am then went for the furthest OP.

In adventure racing, the standard four-person team format specifies that at least one member must be of the opposite gender; and usually this results in a 3:1 male-female composition. As a result, it is not uncommon to hear women jokingly referred to as ‘mandatory equipment’. But, in this male-dominated sport, women bring far more to the team than additional X-chromosomes.
